Chakra Wind Chime | 7 Planetary Chakra Frequencies (126 to 221 Hz)

Seven planets, seven chakras, one chime. The Chakra Wind Chime carries seven pipes tuned to the planetary frequencies that sound healing pairs with the chakras: 194.18 Hz for the root, 210.42 Hz sacral, 126.22 Hz solar plexus, 136.10 Hz heart, 141.27 Hz throat, 221.23 Hz third eye, and 172.06 Hz crown. These are not notes from a musical scale. They are the orbital rhythms of the Earth, Moon, Sun, Mercury, and Venus raised into hearing range, the same set used in our chakra tuning forks. The result is a deep, unhurried tone that settles a garden or a treatment room.

At about 60 inches with 1 inch heat-treated aluminum pipes, this is our largest chime. A wood top and center keep the pipes aligned, and the light wind catcher sounds in a gentle breeze.

Each of the seven pipes is cut and tuned to a planetary frequency: the Earth day (194.18 Hz), the synodic Moon (210.42 Hz), the Sun (126.22 Hz), the Earth year (136.10 Hz, also known as the Om tone), Mercury (141.27 Hz), Venus (221.23 Hz), and the Platonic year (172.06 Hz). Swiss mathematician Hans Cousto derived these in the 1970s by taking each orbital period and doubling it octave by octave until it landed in the audible range, then matched them to the chakras. When the wind catcher moves, the wooden striker sounds the pipes and the planetary tones ring together.

In sound healing practice, each frequency is paired with one chakra as a focus for meditation or a session. What research supports: calm, low-pitched environmental sound lowers perceived stress and helps people settle into meditation.

  • Seven pipes tuned to the Cousto planetary chakra frequencies
  • Deep, slow tones that carry across a garden or fill a large room
  • Pairs with chakra tuning forks so the same frequencies are present all session
  • Heat-treated aluminum pipes hold pitch and resist weather
  • Wood top and center keep the pipes aligned over time
  • Light wind catcher sounds in low wind
  • Passive sound tool: no playing required

Chakra vs. Solfeggio vs. Harmonic

Chakra: seven pipes, 126 to 221 Hz, about 60 in. Planetary frequencies, the deepest voice. Best for large gardens and chakra-focused practice.

Solfeggio: six tubes, 396 to 852 Hz, Large 42 in or Small 30 in. Brighter and more musical.

Harmonic: eight pipes, a full C major octave from 256 to 512 Hz, about 48 in. The most melodic.

All use heat-treated aluminum pipes with wood tops.

  • Pipes: 7, heat-treated aluminum, about 1 in diameter

  • Sacral: 210.42 Hz (synodic Moon)
  • Solar plexus: 126.22 Hz (Sun)
  • Heart: 136.10 Hz (Earth year, Om)
  • Throat: 141.27 Hz (Mercury)
  • Third eye: 221.23 Hz (Venus)
  • Crown: 172.06 Hz (Platonic year)
  • Length: about 60 in, top ring to wind catcher
  • Top and center: wood

  • Hang from a hook or bracket rated for the chime's weight, secured to a solid surface
  • Keep out of reach of small children; pipes and cord can be a hazard
  • For longest life, hang the wood top and striker under cover; the aluminum pipes are weather-resistant
Why aren't these musical notes?

The chakra frequencies come from planetary orbits, not a keyboard. Hans Cousto's method takes an orbital period (the Earth's day, for example) and doubles it until it reaches the audible range, which is why the numbers look unusual. Together they form a chord found nowhere on a piano.

How is this different from the Solfeggio chime?

The Solfeggio chime uses six tones from the Solfeggio scale (396 to 852 Hz), higher and brighter. The Chakra chime sits lower (126 to 221 Hz), with a slower, deeper voice, and it is larger at 60 inches.

Can it stay outdoors year-round?

The aluminum pipes handle weather well. A covered spot protects the wood top and striker.
